Japan Ground Self-Defense Force begin its descent training of 2023 in JGSDF Narashino Proving Ground on Jan. 8, 2023. Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada oversees the joint airborne drill with the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. Japan's 1st Airborne Brigade is the country's only airborne unit. About 1,000 Japanese Self-Defense Forces, 70 U.S. troops, 20 British troops, and 10 Australian troops participate in the joint exercise. At the same time, the drill was open to visitors, and about 9,500 people came to watch the drill.
